Faded Billboards

Experimenting with "Faded Billboards / Signboards". Evenly faded - white washed with thinned white acrylic and light tan matte paints - it dulls the bright glossy look.

Revell Earth Brown Acrylic Matte.

Dirt Road Level Crossing

Created an unofficial dirt road level crossing - used Alcolin Woodfiller (Mahogany) for the roadbed, waited for about 5 hours for the roadbed to dry, weathered the road with pastel powders dissolved in alcohol and added gravel on the skirts and centre. Finally added some Woodland Scenics bushes.

I tried my hand at some tricky HO scale 
temporary mud weathering techniques, 
used a Tamiya Mud Weathering 
Stick - the water based type.

An abandoned and heavily rusted
Morris pick-up: Umber acrylic matte,
mixed pigments, sponge, alcohol
and hairspray.

Sponged and dry brushed with Revell Aqua Color - Earth brown matt to achieve a lightly weathered look for the following two freight wagons...

Caterpillar D5M tied down with "real" steel cable 
to the SAR U-13 abnormal load wagon.

One lightly weathered SAR goods train... 
Mainly bogie side frames, knuckle couplers 
(here you have to be very careful), 
gate handles and chassis areas were weathered, 
a little does a lot.
