ALIWAL NORTH SAR LAYOUT

This is my very first, small table top South African Railways HO layout at my home in Aliwal North, Republic of South Africa.
100% functional and complete.
Depicting the Aliwal North Railway Station, a small industrial area and farming community in Aliwal North, during the early seventies (1972), with charm and innocence, reminiscent of days and decades past.

Automatic Reverse Loop Control

The Automatic Reverse Loop control is done by Reed Switch sensing, triggering my custom built RLTS-1 printed circuit board to ensure the continuous flawless running of trains through the double reverse loops. This route was decided in the interests of simplicity of wiring, and because the philosophy of the layout was that it should be operated prototypically.
