Spruced up the LTA Roadworks Site and Farm Area (Farm "Alomfraai")

While the scenery on the Aliwal North SAR Layout is virtually complete, 
I shall continue to rework certain areas to add some finer detail.

Weathering - Mud and Rust

Mud and Rust Weathering

I tried my hand at some tricky HO scale 
temporary mud weathering techniques, 
used a Tamiya Mud Weathering 
Stick - the water based type.

Added some mud to the body...

I have just "enhanced" another
collector's item;
doesn't it look closer to the
real thing now? Added some
mud and muddy water to the
tyres and hubs...

techniques. 

Pigments, alcohol and a small sponge. 

An abandoned and heavily rusted
Morris pick-up: Umber acrylic matte,
mixed pigments, sponge, alcohol
and hairspray.

A fresher rust appearance.
